FOLK FEDERATION OF NSW - HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS
The Folk Federation of NSW was formed following the successful running of the 1970 Port Jackson Folk Festival which was in fact one of the early National Folk Festivals at a time when it was held in a different state / city each year. This is FolkFedNSW's first Newsletter.
FolkFedNSW Newsletter 16 is an interesting one. Apart from various interesting snippets and a lengthy review of the 1972 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, empowered by the success of the 1970 Port Jackson Folk Festival the committee announce a 2nd PJFF (not a NFF) to be held in Jan '73 on the Australia Day weekend.
In April 1982 the Folk Federation of NSW organised the 16th National Folk Festival which was held in Sydney. Newsletter 109 is dedicated to promoting this event and contains program highlights, names of performers and other information.
This issue of the Cornstalk Gazette has a brief review of the 1988 National Folk Festival held in Sutherland (Greater Sydney). It also contains an edited transcript of an interview
recorded at the Festival by David Mulhallen with Keith McKenry, a member of the committee for the Inquiry into Folklife in Australia.
