Gabi Forman – 2025 under 25 yrs . Hailing from Berridale, Gabi is a guitarist/mandolin player who writes and performs original songs to make a difference and to give back. Gabi is looking forward to the recording and performance opportunities to help get her messages to a wider audience and says, “I am humbled and excited to receive this award. To be recognised and encouraged by respected people in the folk and bluegrass space is beyond my wildest dreams and I am committed to making the most of every opportunity the award offers me. “

Gabi – 2026  –  Modern mandolin-led and traditional/gospel bluegrass and folk music are the true loves of Snowy Mountains musician and mandolin specialist Gabi Forman, the 2025 -2026 New South Wales Folk Federation under 25 youth artist of the year and that’s what she plays with her band Gabi Forman & the Wayward Pilgrims all around NSW, the ACT and even into Queensland.

Award winning singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist Gabi, 20,  graduated from the CMAA  Academy of Country Music in Tamworth for the second time, this time as an instrumental student (mandolin), in January 2026.  She was a singer/songwriter student at Junior Academy  in 2023.

Gabi released her fifth original single, the Australiana bluegrass ballad Kiandra recorded and produced by  Roger Corbett, at the Bundanoon Folk Festival  late in 2025 after teaching it to her band the day before. She has written two more bluegrass influenced local history songs ready to record in 2026 – Jack The Rammer and Gegedgerick. She is bringing her  band to the Loaded Dog so she can play her beloved mandolin at the Showcase rather than guitar.

With her band – mum Karen on banjo, David Williams on guitar, Arch Brown on double bass/backing vocals and Gus Olding on fiddle – Gabi, interestingly a vocally trained soprano, sings  lead vocals and leads solos on mandolin songs and tunes influenced by Molly Tuttle, Old Crow Medicine Show, Johnny Cash, Earl Scruggs and Bill Monroe. She is known to “bluegrass” a few modern songs as well.

Gabi and her crew, full of banter and fun, played five stages and busked  at Tamworth Country Music Festival 2026 after appearances at folk festivals in Yass, Dorrigo, Bundanoon and Kiama in 2025, and have appeared at Cobargo Fringe, National Folk Festival, Cycles On The Green, Cooma and Nimmitabel Shows in 2026 so far.

Gabi, who was runner up in the Open division of the Australian National Busking Championships 2025  and is now a hard working volunteer ANBC Ambassador, has also played at Gympie Music Muster, Hats Off To Country,  with the CMAA Academy band on the Toyota and FanZone Stages in Tamworth.

When she is not playing or writing music Gabi is a nursing student.
