The heritage-listed Tathra Hotel, situated on the Tathra headland surrounded by one of the most beautiful coastlines on the far South Coast of NSW, is a rare jewel. First opened in 1888 today’s hotel with its timber exterior, wide verandahs and lace balustrades retains much of the building’s early charm. It also boasts NO poker machines and NO TAB. What it does have is lots of great live music much of which sits comfortably within the folk genre featuring local and touring musicians playing on weekend afternoons.

Featured over the recent June long weekend was world music collective Malumba (pictured below) for a weekend of Klezma, funk, gypsy jazx, and Celtic disco fusion.

And there’s more! Featured artists over the next few weeks include: 16 June – Helland High Water  (below left) with a lively fusion of traditional and contemporary folk music of Celtic, Scandinavian, European and colonial ‘traditions’, showcasing original and traditional tunes; 23 June – The Trio: Mike Martin, Pete Wild and Pete Hisco (below centre) with their mix of contemporary folk to more traditional folk, and; 7 July – Fiona Boyes (below right), internationally recognised blues guitarist, vocalist, bandleader and songwriter. And… they’re all free admission.

PLUS… they have regular sessions.

THE SESSION is on First FRIDAY of the month 6pm – 8pm; SLOW SESSION (pictured below) is on the Third FRIDAY of the month 6pm – 8pm; and THE GUITAR SESSION – SING A LONG: GUITAR based SING A LONG is on the second Thursday of the month from 5.30pm.

The Tathra Hotel is situated at 8-12 Bega St, Tathra NSW just a 15-minute walk from Tathra Beach on the beautiful Sapphire Coast. For those from further afield thinking of heading down that way the Hotel has Heritage Suites/Rooms and Oceanfront rooms in the Hotel plus Motel accommodation.
