Over the past three years the Folk Federation of NSW has been considering strategies to help connect with and support our NSW folk organisations. While our interactive website has experienced good uptake from our membership it’s now time to reach out to our communities and invite your input as to how we might advance our motto of “championing folk music and the folk arts in NSW”.
To help achieve this, the FFNSW committee will hold a virtual (online) meeting via Zoom on Sunday 10th March from 3:30 – 5:00pm for representatives of NSW folk organisations, including clubs, festivals, dance groups and venue convenors. All such organisations are encouraged to register for this meeting – Organisations may be represented whether or not they are current financial members of FFNSW. The meeting will give an opportunity for multiple organisations to come together at the same time to share ideas, discuss problems and to help clarify how, as the state representative body, FFNSW can offer support both in the immediate future and longer term. We expect this meeting will be part of ongoing discussions towards this aim.
Readers, please make sure your local/favourite NSW folk organisation is aware of this meeting!
Folk organisations: We would love to see you on-screen on 10th March. Please contact FFNSW via folkfederationofnsw@gmail.com for further details and to let us know who and how many from your folk organisation will attend and whether there are specific issues you’d like to discuss. A Zoom meeting link will then be emailed to those organisations who RSVP prior to the meeting date.
We are looking forward to some interesting and useful discussions incorporating a wealth of knowledge and experience from our various folk organisations.
