FolkFedNSW is excited to announce Felicity Dowd as its inaugural Youth Folk Ambassador 2024-25. This is a new initiative to compliment FolkFed’s current Young Folk Artist Program and Awards. The aim of appointing a Youth Folk Ambassador is not only to celebrate and recognise the achievements of an outstanding young folk artist, it’s about making a positive impact, building stronger connections with young musicians who have an interest in folk, roots and acoustic music and, inspiring them to pursue their own music dreams.

Felicity Dowd is the ideal choice to undertake this inaugural role. Since receiving FolkFedNSW’s Under 21 Young Folk Artist of the Year Award in 2020 Felicity has continued to develop and build her career in music. In 2023 she won the Gill Rees Memorial Award presented at the National Folk Festival and, in that same year took out Folk Alliance Australia’s Youth Artist of the Year.

Describing herself as a nomadic troubadour and storyteller spinning tales and melodies across the country, Felicity has taken to the roads, living full-time in her vintage 1974 Caravan suitably named “Van Morrison” balancing her performance and touring schedule with her university studies.

With a portfolio of songs Inspired by an eclectic and ever-changing landscape Felicity’s music is diverse, drifting between the boundaries of Folk and Country. She has always believed a song is only as good as its story and, for one so young, she certainly has stories to share, stories of depth, heart and humour that intertwine the experiences of the world around her. Felicity is bound to be travelling to a venue near you soon and, when she does, don’t miss the opportunity to experience this remarkable and talented young musician.
