2019’s Award Recipients: Allegra Dunning and Josh Maynard

Two ‘Folk Federation of NSW Young Folk Artist Awards’ will be offered each year, one to a performer between 12 and 18 years of age, and one to a performer under 12. The awards are valued at $500 each. All individuals applying must be resident in NSW and under age 18 on July 1st of the year of the award.

Applications for the 2020 awards close on 28th February 2020. Shortly afterwards the best applicants will be selected and invited to perform at a concert organised by us, following which the final awards will be announced.

Each prize will include regular mentoring organised by Folk Fed, over the year of the award, aimed at developing performance and presentation skills. Following on from this the artists will be invited to perform at one or more of our concerts, and it is hoped also at a folk club and/or festival.

GUIDELINES FOR ENTRANTS

Entries for the awards will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges who will be asked to be fairly liberal and inclusive as to what is acceptable as folk music for these awards.
Though experienced performers are also encouraged to enter what we are looking for are performers with potential. Judges will be asked to look for performers who show promise as folk music artists, rather than necessarily as yet having experience as performers.
