How do I join?

Simply click here to register as a member. You can pay by PayPal, credit card, or bank transfer.

How do I renew my membership?

First, log in to your account or create an account, then click here to renew your membership by bank transfer, PayPal or credit card. Our Membership Secretary will confirm your renewal so it may take a few business days for your new expiry date to be reflected within your account.

I paid my annual renewal six months ago but I want an account. Do I have to pay for the full year?

Absolutely not! Simply create a membership here using your Membership Number and we’ll check your account and update your expiry date.

Not sure of your Membership Number? Don’t worry – use this method anyway to sign up, and we’ll check your account against your name.

I just renewed but I chose the wrong level. How do I pay you the $5 I still owe you?

You’re not the only one – we’ve created a payment page just for this! Please click here to make a custom payment (via PayPal or credit card) to the Folk Federation.

I don’t want my profile to be public. Can I hide it?

Absolutely! If you’re a proud Federation member but don’t want a public profile, it’s easy to set your profile to private and it can be changed back at any time. Simply click ‘My Account‘, and from the menu on the left-hand side of this page, click ‘Privacy’. Here you can hide your profile, remove yourself from the directory, or both.

How do I add an event?

To create an event, log in and then go to ‘Add an Event’ in the Events menu. For more information about adding events, click here.

How do I edit my profile?

First, sign in, and then click ‘My Account’. On the page that appears, underneath your name and profile picture will be a link that says ‘View Profile’. Click this link, and when your profile loads, click the cog icon on the right-hand side of the page.

You will be able to edit your profile picture, cover image and biography, add social media links and view your events on your profile.

How do I submit an article to Member News?

Only Folk Federation members can submit to the Member News section. First, get your article ready to go. It’s easiest to type and edit your article outside the website (e.g. in Word, Google Docs, Apple Pages etc), and then copy and paste the text into the form when you’re done.

First, sign in, and then go to ‘My Account’ -> ‘Add Member News‘. Fill out the title, excerpt, full article, tags and upload an image if you have one. Click ‘Submit’ to publish your article. It will immediately go live but the Committee reserve the right to edit or delete member news pieces they deem unsuitable for the site.

You can submit member news about anything you like – an album launch, a fundraiser, an obituary for a loved folkie, even to gather ideas for a new band name.

I’m trying to access a page and I keep getting the login screen or homepage. What’s going on?

It’s possible you’re trying to access a members-only page while logged out.

If you are logged out you will not be able to submit to Member News or access your Account settings.

If you are a paid member, and logged in, and you still can’t see a particular page, please contact us with the details.
