‘Gathering Hunter Songs’ is the latest song project, curating a collection of folk songs about events and people of the Hunter Valley. The songs, including some original pieces, tell stories of heroes, villains, places, and events in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

The collection includes some familiar songs as well as more obscure characters that have coloured the valley over the past hundred years.

Tripple Effect

Carrie Jacobi, Lynden Jacobi and Len McCarthy are Tripple Effect.  Triple because there are three of them;  Tripple because they hope their songs cause a Ripple Effect that will spread throughout the wider community.  Their debut album Ripple Effect features 13 original songs.  Carrie’s partner, John Sutton, wrote the song Straight from the Heart (the Makarrata song) about the Uluru Statement from the Heart and the need for justice and inclusivity for our First Nations peoples.  This song won the 2020 Alistair Hulett Award for Songs for Social Justice.

Tripple Effect sings songs that will inspire, challenge, entertain and leave you wanting more, accompanied by guitars, mandolin, ukulele and whistle/recorder.
