THUR 24 AUGUST @ PETERSHAM BOWLO:
THE PAPER COLLAR PICKERS (WA/NSW)
& THE GO TWOS (Rosie McDonald & Nigel Lever)
Acoustic Folk, Ragtime, Blues & Bluegrass!
Petersham Bowling Club, 77 Brighton St, Petersham.
An Acoustic Folk, Ragtime, Blues & Bluegrass double-bill, featuring The Paper Collar Pickers (WA/NSW) & The Go Twos.
The Papercollar Pickers are Rod Vervest and Craig Sinclair, two musicians hailing from WA, who share a common love for ragtime & slide guitar, & close vocal harmonies. They came together in 2010, honing their tasty dual thumb-picking arrangements and single microphone technique. Now living on opposite sides of the country, they reunite in happy moments to celebrate the old stories, the old tunes and the mighty right thumb of old Big Bill Broonzy.
The Go Twos are Rosie McDonald & Nigel Lever, who are both well established on the Sydney & NSW Folk and festival scene, having played in numerous bands, apart and together. It is the music they play together that shines with an intimate and heartfelt intensity that shimmers in the ether between performer & listener. They draw on the rhythmic and melodic lines that weave through the folk and bluegrass traditions to also present their own material, which they are currently recording for their debut CD.
Rosie (Mothers of the Nation, Seanchas, Trippy Hippy Band, etc): Vocals, guitar, Irish bouzouki & bodhran.
Nigel (Willing Ponies, Acoustic Shock, Karen Lynne band, etc): Vocals, mandolin, flatpick guitar, octave mandolin.
