The Funny As Folk Fiesta

West and Central West NSW
29 June 2023 @ 7:00pm - 10:00 pm
$25

Get ready for a night of warm, funny, soulful folk at the Django Bar, hosted by “Blind Date with a Band” MC and implausibly deep-voiced wordsmith Luke Escombe, who will usher in the music of the Blues Preachers and the Marvellous Hearts Duo. Like a hot, soothing beverage by a crackling fire, this is a night to bring you in out of the cold, warm up your spirits and thaw out your funny bones.

The Blues Preachers: Brother John (John Morris) and Captain Bluetongue (Craig Lyons) will take you to another place and time, somewhere between 1920 and 1940, with their fusion of good old blues, rags, gospel and hillbilly folk. Combining finger-style and slide-guitar with tasteful harmonica and old-school vocal harmonies, The Blues Preachers will make you want to get up & dance with their joyful country & ragtime blues & send a shiver down your spine with their atmospheric feels.

The Marvellous Hearts Duo features the original songs of Craig Lyons in a folk duo format with Craig on guitar, vocals and mountain dulcimer and Carlyn Chen weaving her way around the stories on violin. Craig’s songs tell soulful stories, have a go at politicians and social media, and take you through the journey of life. And birds. There are songs about birds.
