June 2025 marks 50 years since a group of around 30 people met at Sydney University in June 1975 to talk about forming a banjo club. Out of that was founded the Bluegrass & Traditional Country Music Society (of Australia). A mailing list was generated and a one-page newsletter went out to people who were at that first meeting. On July 4, 1975, the first get-together took place at The Arts Workshop at Sydney University. So June 2025 and July 2025 are both 50 year anniversaries.
Come along and celebrate 50 years with us on 7 June at the next Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Get-together at the Annandale Community Centre, 79 Johnston St, Annandale. Everyone is welcome.
Learn and rehearse some songs in SAFETY IN NUMBERS (Sinners) from 6.30pm – beginners and singers welcome – and perform the songs at the start of the concert.
The CONCERT starts at 7.30pm: all acoustic bluegrass, old-time and traditional country music. Feature band will be THE MURRAY HILLBILLIES.
Jamming all night. All welcome!
Tea, coffee, drinks and snacks available
