Sunday Arvo Done Right
Broken Creek takes you on a musical journey from Ireland to the Appalachian Mountains to Scotland and back down to small town Australia.
Don’t miss the dazzling musicianship of two of Australia’s finest folk musicians!
Broken Creek creates intricate chamber folk arrangements for banjo, guitar, violin and voice. In crafting their songs and tunes, they draw on diverse sources including protest songs, Old-Time banjo tunes and Celtic fiddle traditions.
Guitarist Lachlan Heycox and violin/vocalist Erin Heycox grew up in rural Victoria steeped in bushbands and balladeers before moving to Melbourne. Named for the creek Erin grew up near, the name Broken Creek signals a love of traditional folk music with an adventurous musical bent to “break” with the same old ways of playing folk music.
2022 sees them releasing their debut album ‘Small Town Anthropologies’, described as and launching a national Small Town Tour that includes pop-up choirs, church halls, folk festivals and recording tunes in gorgeous locations.
