Sydney Bluegrass Special Concert – Mike Compton & Laura Boosinger

Mike Compton & Laura Boosinger – The Knackered Ramblers – from the USA, will feature in a special November concert presented by Sydney Bluegrass & Old-Time Music.

Mike is an award-winning mandolinist, composer and singer, who has visited Australia before. He has been featured on recordings with a wide range of performers, from Sting & Elvis Costello, to John Hartford, Norman Blake, Doc Watson & Pete Rowan. He collaborated with producer T-Bone Burnett on the Album of the Year soundtrack for “O Brother Where Art Thou?”.

Laura is a banjoist, singer and an inductee of the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame. She is a student and teacher of Appalachian Music and Studies and has collaborated with musicians across the spectrum. Laura has also been instrumental in maintaining the tradition of shaped note singing from the Christian Harmony in workshops at many different events.

As the duet, The Knackered Ramblers,  Laura and Mike bring their love and respect of American traditional music together to preserve and share it for our enjoyment.

Supporting them will be talented singers, songwriters and instrumentalists, Hunter and Suzy Owens. They are award-winning songwriters who are well-known and respected for their talent in the bluegrass, old-time and country music scenes.
