60 minutes each from North & Elsewhere + Pump & Pyro

Hazel and Roanna Law are the young, upcoming duo North and Elsewhere. The sisters were raised on folk music and family harmonies (Karen Law Family Band), which remain at the core of their performance and songwriting style.

They were recognised at a young age for their songwriting, seeing Hazel win the ‘Change the World With Your Song Competition’ and runner-up in the Illawarra Folk Festival Song Competition (2017). This led them to releasing their debut EP in 2021, a collection of indie-folk songs inspired by nature, connection and social justice. They followed the EP with a number of shows including Woodford Folk Festival’s Bushtime, the Glen Innes Celtic Festival and support for Enda Kenny at Sunday Folk.

Their live show is characterised by their blend of harmonies and thoughtful story-telling lyricism, backed with acoustic and bass guitar. It’s a moving performance, with a style of songwriting that will stay with you.

Pump & Pyro –
Ian Macintosh  (‘Pump’ – Melodeon and Guitar) and Tony Pyrzakowski (‘Pyro’ – Fiddle) are core members of the musical collective known variously as ‘The Wheeze and Suck Band’ and ‘Traditional Graffiti’. Originating from the London area of the UK, and both also being visual artists, they have performed together for more than twenty years in those bands and as a duo.

Pump writes songs, and Pyro creates beautiful fiddle music around the songs, and traditional English tunes. Pump & Pyro have just released ‘The Bedlam Suite’, a download-only album of original and traditional music and songs inspired by some of the great creative individuals that have been incarcerated in asylums, such as the historic Bethlehem Hospital in London.
