Superb Fiddle & Cello Duo! Natalie and Brittany Haas are sisters of talent and charm. Critically acclaimed as individual musicians, it’s a rare delight for them to perform as a duo – a delight for them and audiences alike!
Brittany Haas is widely regarded as one of the most influential fiddlers of her generation. She has worked with Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings, and the seminal “Chamber-Bluegrass” band, Crooked Still, with whom she made four recordings and toured the world, including Australia.
She has also performed, toured and recorded with the likes of Dave Rawlings & Gillian Welch, Steve Martin, Bela Fleck, Abigail Washburn, Tony Trischka, Chris Thile and more. Her current touring band, Hawktail, is a progressive string quartet that also includes bassist, Paul Kowert, from the Punch Bros.
Natalie is one of the most sought after cellists playing traditional music today. She and Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser have toured as a duo for 23 years, wowing audiences at festivals and concerts worldwide with their unique sound. Her innovative approach to Celtic music on the cello has inspired a whole new generation of young cellists in folk music across the globe. Natalie has also toured with Mark O’Connor as a member of his Appalachia Waltz Trio.
The Haas sisters, two of the brightest lights in the modern acoustic string world, come together for a rare duo appearance bursting with rhythmic energy and melodic exploration!
Their special guests for this show, will be The Good Behaviours, an exciting new Chamber-Folk quintet, featuring Nick Henderson (banjo), with Chris Stone (fiddle) and Holly Downes (double bass), both from The String Contingent, together with Emily-Rose Sarkova (accordion) from Chaika, and Felix Lalanne (guitar).
