Linn Phipps (UK) & support Karisma @ The Loaded Dog

This month at the Loaded Dog we have very contrasting styles of music – a visitor from Scotland, Linn Phipps with a repertoire of traditional songs sung in Gaelic and English. Although this is Linn’s first visit to this country, several Australians have met Linn through her appearances on zoom. The support this month is Karisma, a quartet of female singers with exquisite arrangements of jazz classics. Karisma started in 1970 at Merrylands High School under the tutelage of Peter Paige and were sensational from the start. Lucky for us, two original members have regrouped, added new singers and have recreated these stunning arrangements.

Linn Phipps – This is Linn’s first ever visit to Australia so she is delighted to be singing here! Linn is a traditional singer in Gaelic and English who has been performing with Gaelic choirs and as a solo singer for 45 years. She won the Silver Pendant (which is the Solo Medal for Learners of Gaelic) in 2008. Linn has performed online and in person at a wide variety of festivals and clubs from Australia to France, Ireland, Scotland, England, America and others. During the pandemic she issued 5 CDs, and now has over 80 videos on Youtube. She has created many musical collaborations and zoomed around the world during and after the pandemic. Linn hosts a monthly learn a Scottish Gaelic song workshop and a Celtic language song ceilidh, and roughly monthly, a Themed Shanty Big Sing.
