KRISTINA OLSEN – EXTRA SYDNEY SHOW

Extra Sydney Show At the Petersham Bowlo on Thursday 17th April for the unique, dynamic US singer-songwriter, Kristina Olsen. It follows her highly successful show with Cellist, Peter Grayling (WA) at The Gaelic Club on Tuesday 25th March!
Don’t miss this final show of her current Australian tour! Kristina will be solo this time, and singing a a different repertoire. Many will want to see her a second time after the 6-year gap in her visiting Australia.
Kristina Olsen is one of the most entertaining, engaging, and compelling performers on the international folk circuit. A superb multi-instrumentalist, on acoustic guitar, steel-body slide guitar, saxophone, concertina, mandolin and piano, as well as an award-winning songwriter with a big bluesy voice, Kristina has audiences around the world coming back for more. She is renowned for her mix of powerful songs from bottleneck blues, swing and jazz to lilting folk ballads, and her hilarious, often bawdy, storytelling.
Kristina toured regularly in Australia between 1994 and 2017, but has spent the last seven years largely focused on studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where she obtained a BA with a double major in Orchestration/Arranging and Guitar. She is excited to be returning to Australia this March and April for a tour that includes gigs in NSW, Victoria, the ACT, South Australia and Western Australia.
Such respected artists as Eric Bibb, Fairport Convention, Maddy Prior, and Mary Coughlan have covered and recorded Kristina’s songs. She has also worked as a session musician on numerous artists’ albums, including playing the hammered dulcimer on Michelle Shocked’s album, ‘Short Sharp Shocked’, and toured here as Mary Coughlan’s guitarist in 2005.
