Our next concert night on Friday 15th March will feature two great folk acts:
Phil Bates is known for his ability to deliver modern and traditional songs with a warmth that comes from the heart. He has been involved in the folk world for 50 years. Early in his music career, Phil helped to form the Rum Culls band with Pam and Norm Merrigan, Shane Kerr and Adam Macaulay, as well as performing as a solo singer and guitarist. He has continued performing in clubs and at festivals since then, picking up many great songs along the way. Now retired and enjoying the quiet life, Phil still likes to share those songs with folk audiences.
Alex Burger is a musician, composer and singer-songwriter, performing together with Chris Keane, an established classical guitarist and music educator. As well as performing in the folk scene, Alex writes and arranges music which he publishes for music ensembles and recording artists. Chris and Alex met in 2006 when Chris was conducting the Sydney Mandolin Orchestra and Alex was playing double bass. Since then, they’ve played together in guitar and mandolin ensembles and have toured to the US and Europe. Their latest collaboration brings together a range of different musical influences into a fabulous acoustic guitar duo performing mainly original pieces with the occasional cover.
Floor spot acts are also welcome – Please pre-register your interest to perform via our website.
