Folkloric Fusions: from Argentina to Appalachia Guanaco Trio (ARG), Shark & Fox (CAN/AUS)

An international double bill of award winning musicians take you on a global sonic journey, touching the very heart of traditional music lovers and those that enjoy pushing the boundaries.

From Argentina comes the Guanaco Trio on their inaugural tour of Australia. Presenting stunning traditional music and new compositions, Laura Urtega, Benjamin Aedo and Owen Salomé are leaders in the young generation of music makers based in Argentina. Violin, Guitar and the enigmatic Bandoneon will have you enthralled and enchanted.

Shark & Fox are an irresistible Canadian-Australian collaboration shape-shifting between traditions – frenetic Bulgarian dances, haunting Appalachian twangs, droning Irish reels, Swedish polskas and songs that speak into existence the ephemeral mysteries of life. Emily-Rose Sarkova and Jaron Freeman-Fox meticulously weave together the vast shared history of the fiddle and accordion as musical companions, with surprising twists you will love.

For those who enjoy the likes of Bela Fleck, Mercedes Sosa, Anoushka Shankar or Martin Hayes, this concert is for you!
