Folk by the Sea is an intimate folk festival featuring the sounds of folk, world, roots, Celtic and bluegrass music in the picturesque seaside town of Kiama, famous for its blowhole.
Held across 3 days from 5pm Friday 20th September to 4pm Sunday 22nd September, the event will be with ticket only entry and will feature around 44 of the Best Folk Music Artists from around Australia.
Nine Amazing Venues – from the acoustic perfection of the Anglican Hall to the magnificent Kiama Pavilion, where every room has a view of the rugged coastline.
There’s a new generation of folk festival performers coming to Kiama in this line-up – more and more are classically trained and are setting a new standard for folk music, taking it to a new level and a new audience.
Folk By The Sea is proud to feature internationally recognised artist Eric | Marrawuy, a First Nations performer whose musical journey speaks to the possibilities music has for bringing people together across cultures and generations. Renowned for his beautiful voice, violin and dance, Eric is an exceptional artist with a rich heritage spanning Ngiyampaa, Yuin, Bandjalang, and Gumbangirr cultures.
Apolline, from Victoria, describe themselves as genre bending neo-folk. They have incredible musicianship with innumerable instruments and alluring voices. Expect foot-stomping sets of original songs.
And Queensland group Cigany Weaver with front woman Jo Davie’s soaring vocals and enchanting demeanour combining beautifully with the band’s fiery violin, dynamic guitars and driving rhythm section, are another act not to be missed.
There is so much more, you’ll never want it to end!
