Named one of Brazil’s top compositional talents on the guitar, Chrystian Dozza is hailed as a leading light in contemporary Brazilian music. Praised by renowned musicians Sergio Assad and Paulo Bellinati, Dozza’s innovative and original compositions have captivated audiences worldwide.

Born and raised in Brazil, Chrystian Dozza’s extraordinary musical journey has seen him become a celebrated figure in the instrumental music scene. With four critically acclaimed CDs – Songs from the Land (2005), Fantasia Mineira (2010), Despertar (2015), and No Frontiers (2020) – Dozza showcases a unique blend of original compositions and creative arrangements of Brazilian classics.

Dozza’s remarkable talent has been recognized with numerous awards, including victories in prestigious contests such as the Concurso Violões sem Fronteira at Assad Festival, Musicalis and the Concurso Novos Talentos da Música Erudita. He also won the prize for best instrumentalist at the XIV Prêmio BDMG Instrumental, one of Brazil’s most important music awards and Guitars Composition contest Novas 4#. His global reputation was further solidified with performances at the Melbourne Guitar Festival, Adelaide Guitar Festival, Indiana International Guitar Festival, Lulo Reinhardt Guitar Festival and the renowed International Guitar Night.

This concert promises an exciting mix of Chrystian Dozza’s original compositions, featuring the Australian premiere of his major new work for guitar and looping, titled “World Suite.” Drawing inspiration from his travels and the rich musical heritage of Brazil, Dozza’s music is a rare fusion of traditional Brazilian rhythms, progressive rock, and world music.

Rufous Whistler

The band is excited to release their debut single River Gum Tree in September, and is celebrating with a 7-date east-coast tour. Known for his campfire-glow voice and exceptional instrumental prowess, Vinny and his talented ensemble—featuring Steven Hornby (double bass), Lucy McKenzie-McHarg (fiddle, mandolin), Dylan Knur (mandolin, fiddle, banjo), captivate audiences with their four part harmony, soul-stirring melodies and rich storytelling.
