Celtic Guitar Heaven with Tony McManus and Marcus Sturrock

19 April 2026 @ 2:00pm - 5:00 pm
$25 members and $30 non members

A heavenly afternoon of virtuosic Celtic Guitar with some songs.

Tony McManus has been hailed by John Renbourn as “the best Celtic guitarist in the world”; and listed as one of the 50 transcendent guitarists of all time by Guitar Player Magazine.

Tony has extended and transcended the parameters of contemporary Celtic music. Ranked alongside the guitar world’s all-time greats, his dexterous, dazzling, fiendishly original playing draws on traditions from the entire Celtic diaspora – Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Galicia, Asturias, Cape Breton, Quebec – along with flavours, such as jazz and east European music. His has an uncanny ability to transpose the delicate, complex ornamentation of traditional bagpipe or fiddle tunes – even the phrasing of a Gaelic song – onto his own six strings.

Marcus Sturrock (Australia) is a hidden musical treasure, one of the few performers in the world who could be paired alongside Tony McManus. Much of his career has been spent in the world of music recording. A short description of Marcus Sturrock at work covers all the following, and much more: Guitarist; Multi-instrumentalist; Film maker; musical mentor to other musicians; recording studio owner; Music producer; TAFE Lecturer in Music Composition & Audio Engineering; Magician; Sound & lighting for Aboriginal Dance company; Session musician; Drummer, Guitarist, and Bassist for 40 bands & 2 Orchestras; Artist; Composer; Caregiver; Graphic Artist; Music therapist for the profoundly autistic; Poet, Lyricist, Vocalist; Composer for Movie Soundtracks.
