Bush Gothic, self described ‘post-modern bush band’, are on national tour celebrating the release of their new album and will alight at various NSW venues this week. On Friday 23rd May they bring their unique folk music style to the historic National Theatre in Braidwood.
Bush Gothic band leader and fiddle-singer Jenny M. Thomas, double bassist Dan Witton and drummer Chris Lewis use trad Australian songs as their source material, with musical influences ranging from minimalist electro to jazz. Are they outsiders, lurking on the cultural fringe? Or have they penetrated to the inner core of Australian identity? Performing at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals including Mona Foma, Festival # 6 (Wales), R.I.F.F (India) and Womadelaide, and multi-award-winners (Australian Folk Music 2022 Award for Best Band, Best Music Award winners at The Adelaide Fringe and FIVE STARS from the BBC Music Magazine). they have developed an international cult following amongst those who like their jazz intelligent and their folk dark.
At Braidwood’s National Theatre, Bush Gothic will be supported by talented duo Two If By Sea, Rachel Johnston and Trent Arkleysmith, for a truly memorable musical experience. Bookings at bushgothic.com
