Broken Creek Concert and Pop-Up Choir Workshop – Gulgong

In the beautiful space of The Prince of Wales Opera House, chamber folk duo BROKEN CREEK will take you on a journey through Ireland, Scotland, the Appalachian mountains of America through intricate arrangements of banjo, mandolin, guitar, violin and voice.

This performance will include special guest singers from the Pop-up Choir workshop which will be held earlier in the day and is open to anyone who is keen to sing.

POP-UP CHOIR workshop info:

Broken Creek will host a POP UP CHOIR WORKSHOP in the afternoon from 2 – 4pm. This will be a fun two hour workshop where we will learn the parts to a Broken Creek songs, an evocative folk song and a rip roaring sea shanty. No singing experience necessary (if anyone has told you that you “can’t sing” they are wrong). In the safety of a group we will learn some vocal techniques that will help you feel in touch with your voice and build your confidence singing in parts.

Coffe and tea will be provided.

About BROKEN CREEK

Drawing on Old Time Americana and Celtic traditions, Broken Creek creates intricate chamber folk arrangements for banjo, guitar, violin and voice that reimagines songs, stories and musical traditions from the past to connect them to our present moment.

Lachlan Heycox (guitar/banjo/mandolin/percussion) and Erin Heycox (vocals/fiddle) grew up in rural Victoria steeped in bushbands and balladeers before moving to Melbourne.
