Balls & Chains – The Musical (Loosely Woven)

08 September 2024 @ 2:00pm - 4:30 pm

A full production of Ted Egan’s musical about the Australian convicts ‘Balls & Chains‘.  Ted, who has been for decades a very popular singer/songwriter in the Australian country/folk scene, was also the Administrator of the Northern Territory (2003-2007). There is an audio version of ‘Balls & Chains’ but Loosely Woven’s upcoming production will be the first time it has ever been staged.

Balls & Chains‘ is by far the most ambitious project undertaken by Loosely Woven since it performed Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic opera Trial by Jury back in 2019.  Once again we are very fortunate to have the amazing Christine Logan (from Endangered Productions) directing us as well as the incredibly talented Maria Dunn who has adapted and arranged the musical for us.  See the audience program.

There will be 12 public performances around the state including two at Humph Hall. See here on the Loosely Woven web site for details about the other performances.

The performance will be accompanied by a 7 piece band with two violins, viola, cello, two flutes & piano.

A very special event not to be missed!  🙂
