The Mount Omei Modern Art Gallery is a designated historic old building but under threat of being closed by the owners. A keen group of art enthusiasts has been holding art shows there for the last few years to demonstrate the extent of public support for the venue. These shows have often been accompanied by music. The buildings are situated in large park-like grounds.
A small folk festival is being planned at the site on Sunday 23rd March from 1 – 7pm by one of the local artists, musician Mr Davy Hilton. A duo with local connections, James Palenthorpe and Eoin O’Keeffe will also be performing: Eoin (fiddle) and James (guitar) have been playing mainly Irish and Scottish folk music together for twelve years.
Other interested folk or acoustic musicians who would like to perform between 2 – 4pm (or longer) on the day in front of a likely audience of 20 – 30 should contact Van Klaphake, (02) 9602-8589
The venue is at Lot 17 Leacocks Lane, Casula – 30 odd km south west of Sydney. It is opposite number 45 (for GPS reference), next to All Saints High School; there will be a large “Lot 17” on the street sign outside the front gate
