Emmy Ryan

Emmy Ryan is a multi-instrumentalist who writes folk music for today’s times, pulling no punches in exploring colonisation, climate change, capitalism, and love. While Emmy inhabits the folk-country space with ease, she also drifts seamlessly into jazz and soul territory, weaving her formal vocal training through the fabric of traditional and contemporary folk music on the guitar, mandolin, and octave mandolin to create protest songs that swing, roots tunes that groove, and country ballads that soothe. Born and raised on Bundjalung and Wiradjuri Country in regional NSW, of Irish and Scottish heritage, and a recent import to Mparntwe/Alice Springs on Arrernte Country from Redfern on Gadigal Country, Emmy's songs are shaped by the skies, seas, cities, mountains, plains, and deserts of her homes.
