Emmy Ryan
Emmy Ryan is a multi-instrumentalist who writes folk music for today’s times, pulling no punches in exploring colonisation, climate change, capitalism, and love. Her EP I Ain’t So Blue, a collection of “songs of solitude and solidarity; heartfelt, hopeful, and grounded in desert dust”, has received acclaim and airplay from community and commercial radio around the country, was the feature album on 8CCC radio Alice Springs & Tennant Creek in its release week, and has been featured on ABC radio.
While Emmy inhabits the folk-country space with ease, she also drifts seamlessly into jazz and soul territory, weaving her training in contemporary music through the fabric of folk music traditions. Performance credits include the National Folk Festival, Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival, Desert Song Festival, St Albans Folk Festival, the Australian Celtic Festival, and the Top Half Folk Festival.
