John Warner & Traditional Graffiti @ The Loaded Dog

60 minutes each from

John Warner – John is known as a passionate and adventurous singer and songwriter whose songs have gained a wide audience over the years. His songs explore many themes- horses,  workers, the bush. Bring Out The Banners is a union anthem well known internationally.  Anderson’s Coast another regularly demanded work about marooned convicts.
In the last two decades as the reality of the climate emergency has started to bite in the form of drought, fire, flood and extreme weather, John has turned his anger about the venality of our leaders into more powerful songs.
As many folkies know, John believes in the power of chorus singing. At the next Loaded Dog there will be plenty of new material, lots of choruses and a surprise element in the instrumental toolkit.

Traditional Graffiti   Band (aka ‘The Trads’) has risen, phoenix-like, out of the ashes of the legendary Wheeze & Suck Band. The band members are:-

Ian “The Pump” Macintosh – acoustic & electric guitars, melodeon, vocals
• John “Johnny Red Tips” Milce – percussion & jokes
• Nigel “Muddy” Walters – cello mandolin, mandolin, mouth organ, vocals
• Clive “The Dodger” McFarland – rhythm guitar, brass band, backing vocals
• Brad ‘Stix’ Newhouse – additional percussion and backing vocals

We play a mix of English traditional and contemporary folk music, (including some favourites from the Wheezers repertoire), and American roots / blues music, including a number of self-penned compositions.

The Graffiti Band is performing its Winter themed acoustic set at the Loaded Dog Folk Club. To make our folk club appearances (as opposed to Festivals and non-folk-specific clubs) special we are performing traditional and contemporary songs and tunes with the specific seasonal theme or connection appropriate for the performance date. For our return to The Loaded Dog, traditional carols, Coconut Dances and seasonal labour songs meet around the fire with Traditional Graffiti originals to warm the soul and get feet tapping on a cold  winter’s night.
