The Irish Connection is a prominent Sydney-based Irish ballad band, featuring Cameron
Mather (vocals/banjo/guitar), and former Irish Drovers members Jimmy Carroll
(vocals/guitar/bodhran) and Matt Tone (banjo/mandolin/vocals).
Their repertoire is diverse and varied, taking you from the gentle tones of songs like
“Caledonia” and “Sweet Sixteen” through to rollicking sea shanties like “The Wellerman” and
classic drinking songs such as “Whiskey In The Jar”.
The Irish Connection’s sound harks back to the golden era of Irish folk of the late 70’s and
80’s, channelling the likes of Barleycorn, The Dubliners and The Dublin City Ramblers.
They are known for performing traditional Irish folk, ballads, and sea shanties.
