The Folk Federation of NSW is delighted to announce South Coast NSW singer songwriter Sam Fletcher as its 2025-26 Youth Folk Ambassador. Sam is a former under 25 years Folk Federation of NSW Young Folk Artist of the Year and a graduate of the 2025 CMAA Academy of Country Music.
The Youth Folk Ambassador position is an initiative created in 2024 to compliment Folk Federation’s Young Folk Artist Program and Sam follows on from Felicity Dowd who held the inaugural position from October 2024 until September 2025.
When it comes to music Sam Fletcher is a young man with something to say and has been writing and performing his original songs from an early age. In his late teens, leading up to the release of his debut EP ‘Summer’s Here’, Sam toured east coast NSW playing several small festivals. Since then, he’s released three new singles, another EP in 2023, ‘West of the Mountains’ and been played on Triple J Unearthed. His new single ‘Rule My Mind’ is available from October 10 with a release gig at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Folk Club in Sydney’s north on October 17. See below to book.
Sam’s first official duty as Youth Folk Ambassador is at Bundanoon Folk Festival on Saturday November 22 where he will also be performing. Folk Federation of NSW looks forward to working with Sam in the coming year, building stronger connections with young musicians and inspiring them to pursue their own music dreams.
Congratulations Sam. The Folk Federation of NSW is pleased to have you on board as the Youth Folk Ambassador for 2025-26. Looking forward to hearing your set at Bundanoon Folk Festival in November and wishing you all the best for your release gig for ‘Rule My Mind’ at Hornsby Kur-ring-gai Folk Club. Really sorry I’ll be in the UK and won’t be able to be there.
Wow this is great news, what better successor to our inaugural Youth Ambassador Felicity Dowd could there be than Sam Fletcher. Such a highly accomplished young musician.
