Live performance for 3D Radio

While visiting family in Adelaide earlier this year I attended the 3D Radio “Hillbilly Hoot”. This weekly event has been running for 20+ years and is loosely based on the old radio show (and movie) “A Prairie Home Companion”.

Every Monday evening (7-8pm) the radio station has a one hour live-to-air concert at Linde Reserve in Stepney. It’s an open mic setup and usually there is time for just one song. Performers are asked to list under a pseudonym. I opted for “Pig Iron Al”, a reference to my early years in the steelmaking town of Whyalla, and played my original piece, “Mark My Words” – a lament about social media.

It was definitely a hoot, and I received some really nice feedback from the audience and organisers.

If you’re in Adelaide and looking for an opportunity to perform, or want to enjoy a pleasant evening in the park, I highly recommend this event.
