Paradise Road ‘Song of Survival’The Sydney Women’s Vocal Orchestra, led by Christina Mimmocchi and Pam Davis,
and
Verve Chorus, led by Elizabeth W Scott.
SWVO was formed to sing the music arranged and sung in Palembang POW camp during WWII in Sumatra. The story of these amazing English, Dutch and Australian women was the basis for the movie ‘Paradise Road’. This concert presents the music and the story of the women – who they were, how they ended up at Palembang, and what happened to them 70 years ago. It weaves the stories around the music arranged by Norah Chambers and Margaret Dryburgh, now published as “Songs of Survival”. It is a celebration of the women who formed a choir in the direst of circumstances.
Led by Elizabeth W. Scott. Elizabeth from New York, VERVE Harmony, from the Central Coast present a diverse mix of choral works including from African, African American, Indigenous, Eastern European and Western European folk traditions.
