Dave Johnson presents a swag of rollicking bush songs and tunes. Singing with guitar and taking up the concertina or fiddle for the dance tunes, he presents a wide range of material from the Australian tradition. He is a proud advocate of our rich hidden heritage – having provided workshops, regular sessions, publications and recordings and assembling musicians to play for dances and balls for many years. Recently he has explored the world of theatre to present historical themes, with a play on a local holdup by the Ben Hall gang and concerts for the Kangaroo March reenactment and a country hall centenary.
“I am also keen”, he says, “to build on our history with new arrangements and new songs, dances and tunes that reflect the contemporary Australian experience.”
