Tom Flood – A Farewell to the Blue Mountains

”Farewell to the Blue Mountains” performance by Tom Flood

Blackheath Folk at the Gardners Inn on the first Wednesday in April will feature Tom Flood.   Tom remembers being dragged into bush music clubs in Perth at age 6, to perform with the family.  He took up harmonica in his teens and learned to play guitar and banjo.   He came to Sydney at 23, performed  in various bands and wrote a novel which won three national awards.

This will be Tom Flood’s “Farewell to Blue Mountains” performance, before he returns to Western Australia sometime this autumn.  He promises a few seminal 50s-60s folk songs written by his parents, Dorothy Hewett and Merv Lilley.  There will also be a handful of blues covers and a scattering of his own eclectic songs/tunes on banjo, harmonica and guitar.

Floor performers are very welcome at Blackheath Folk and there is always a great variety of music, songs and poetry.  All this for a $5 donation per person, collected on the night!

Folk music and poetry at the Gardners Inn on Wednesday 3rd April will start at 7.30PM.   The bistro will be open from 5.30PM.
