Michael Fix & Mark Cryle @ Illawarra Folk Club
April 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm$25
Michael Fix, an old Port Kembla boy, & one of Australia’s best guitarists, & Mark Cryle, one of our finest singer songwriters, these days both from Brisbane. A unique musical perspective on Australian history – Aboriginal fast bowler Eddie Gilbert, doughty St Patrick Day’s protesters confronting police batons in Brisbane in 1948, Ronald Ryan, the last hanged man in Australia. Both multi-instrumentalists & seasoned performers, both passionate about keeping Australia’s chequered history alive – in important original songs.
+Support – our very own Claire Roberts. Claire’s music has taken her all over Australia, in clubs & pubs as a soloist & in bands incl. The Debonairs (a club band in the ’80s & ’90s), Eureka! (well-known bush band), & Pinchgut (had a residency for many years in the Argyle Tavern; & supported Peter, Paul & Mary on their anniversary tour of Australia).
